Mika Takes You to Hetalia's Nekotalia Cafe Part. 2!

Hi, hi!

So, how is everyone? I've been struggling to keep my head above the water because I have overcommitted myself to so much work, events and people. Still, at the same time, I am very happy. Working and making others feel good makes me happy. To know that I will be of service to others brings me so much joy. Never in my life has it occurred to me to only think of myself. I always want to give whatever I can. To me, knowing that I have brightened someone's day is enough to tell myself, "Job well done!".

Last night, a cockroach flew on my head and even hit my face as I was studying! I got scared that I began to yell out of surprise! (Even after taking Entomology, these little buggers still disgust me. Not so much as being afraid of them but more on disgust...!) Ate Princess ran down from her room upstairs and killed the bug for me. *sighs* I had to take a bath after, and I even gargled twice to make sure that there were no germs on me. :') The day before, I was laughing at her because a cockroach flew above her head and I even recorded it on video. I guess that was my karma. Heh.

I put in these personal paragraphs up on my blog posts because at the end of the day... this isn't a travel / anime / review / photography blog. It's a personal blog. Sometimes I forget that and feel bad about talking on about my thoughts and feelings. (Which should never ever be the case.) I guess I feel apprehensive to talk about myself as other people can read and just get what's going on in my head whether I like it or not. Heck, my friend's older brother's cousin's parents can read what I have to say and opinions may form about me. Still, I'd like to continue saying what I have to say anyway.

This time of the year always feels nostalgic. I guess it's because in 2015 when my Uncle died. August isn't a favourite month of mine at all. But this August was really fun, and it's the best August I've had in years so I pray it continues!

Today, I wanted to talk about Nekotalia Cafe's offerings! (Aka: what we ordered!)

Coasters I got! No Philippines Neko - unfortunately. :<

My Mom and I both ordered coffees. Mine was Italy Neko's milk coffee and Mom's was Russia Neko's black coffee with cat shaped gelatine and ice-cream.

My Mom didn't finish hers because she didn't expect that it would be too sweet...! I finished mine easily, hehe. It's not like in the Philippines where I can tell them to remove the ice... I don't want to be a bother. *sweats* But it was really good and nice after walking around Akihabara the entire afternoon!

France Neko's Rose-shaped sandwiches!

LOOK AT THE PAW PRINTS! SO MUCH ACCURACY. I CRI.

My Mom told me not to get Russia Neko's stew meal because we had dinner reservations after, but now that I think about it... Russia Neko's meal looked so good...!

Japan Neko's Inarizushi!

Nothing too special, but the artistry that went into these is A+!

Ta-dah! Our orders!

More photos of the cafe interior!

I hope you enjoyed my post on Nekotalia cafe. It was such a sweet surprise, and I ended up enjoying!

Mika Takes You To Hetalia's Nekotalia Cafe! Part. 1

Hey!

I question myself a lot whenever I write these kinds of entries. Whenever I look at my blog's stats and read comments from you guys, I learned that most of you love reading my entries about my trips and adventures in Japan (Which really is a no-brainer because let's face it... I'm a premed student and no one would go to this blog and think to themselves, 'Hmm... I want to know if she's tackled this x subject in class.) It's very important to me as a person to figure out how I can make my readers happy. But at the same time, I want to give people a sense of hope rather than envy. I know it's kind of presumptuous for me to think that people who read this blog would become ~envious~, and I may not be saying this as tactfully as I should... But what I mean to say is, I'm writing my entries with the plight that this helps you pursue your travel dreams in Japan. Not to tell you to give up or that you can't achieve them.

By my experience working with people and studying behaviour in general, I learned that people stumble when overcome with ill-feelings such as jealousy / envy, anger, etc. If it's your dream to travel Japan then by all means please do so. I'm rooting for you, too. And I would love to read your entries in the future. To me, there is nothing better than seeing others succeed and fulfil their goals. I feel that I am also a part of their success as I was once the same way. Let's all help each other succeed.

Today, I'd like to talk about one of the cutest cafes I've ever been to: Nekotalia Cafe!

I have a huge confession: cats terrify me.

Cats make those strange wailing human sounds whenever they're mating or fighting and that scares the living crap out of me. Next, dogs have been much kinder towards me me. I've never met a dog that I didn't like. Cats on the other hand have scratched me and threatened me with rabies. When I was studying in UST, I gave a cat my leftover hotdog. When I attempted to pet her, she scratched my finger and I ran inside the Main Building to wash my hands... and lo and behold at the first floor restrooms, there was no water and soap in the sink.

Ah, UST.

We used to take care of a stray cat around our home named Tony, and she was a kind cat who only wanted to be loved. I liked that cat but unfortunately, we couldn't keep her around. Why? Well, she would become pregnant every few months or so and she'd keep her kittens inside a small section in our roof. Tony would literally pull apart the covers we'd seal and place her newborn kittens there. The only problem was whenever it would rain (as it was an enclosed section), her kittens would drown. We kept trying to seal it but then she'd just pull apart another section and another. One day, my Mom just got fed up with it (I remember screaming at the sight of a kitten's paw just dangling on our roof when I was in third grade) that they lured Tony with food and took her kittens to the shelter.

... of course, I digressed.

I wasn't sure about whether I wanted to go to this cafe or not simply because... I thought the food looked a bit bland. (And it really was, to be quite honest.) But I thought, "Hmm. Well, there probably won't be another cafe like this so why not?". On the day we went to Akihabara to eat some Kobe beef, my Mom stopped at the building where Adores was located and said, "Merienda (Mid-afternoon meal) ka muna?" And, hey, my Mom offered so why not?

On we went! If Mama suggests it, then so it must be done! *gleams*

When we got inside, I was puzzled because I kept on pressing the button to the 5th (or 6th, forgive my poor memory) floor to the cafe but it wasn't budging. I figured the cafe must've been closed but a few Japanese girls carrying merchandise came out so I pressed on. My Mom and I went to the 3rd (or 4th) floor to check out the Adores merchandise floor and apparently, we had to stop by here first for reservations. When I asked the saleslady, she said that they were still cleaning up from the previous time slot's so we had to wait on that floor.

I fell in love with the merchandise, and every girl who went to the cafe seemed to be people I would want to be friends with!

The menu!

I promise I will do an Adores cafe guide soon.

The team!

We had to line up along with the other guests and climb the backstairs to the floor where the cafe was located. I guess it's because we couldn't fit everyone inside the elevator and they wanted to be fair? I don't know the exact reason why. ;;;

If only I was a fan of the series, I would've attempted to get every one!

I liked the merchandise selection for this series. <3 The colours are a bit muted though (which I get is the series' colour palette)!

A part of me feels very lucky to be able to travel Japan. In fact, I consider it as my second home as I return often. But still, I feel like an outsider amidst all these lovely ladies. I wish I had them as friends. Whenever I go to cafes, that's what I think of immediately. I'm a bit shy to speak in Nihongo so I only do so if I must. I hope I can connect more and make friends with them someday.

Italy neko is bae! And he greets you out! How adorable, right?

I'll continue with my food post up next, so please watch out!

FREE! Star Night Taito Kuji Can Mirror Review

Oh, my goodness!

The air smells of sweet and sour pork, and I'm salivating.

Stop yourself, Mika!

It's already 9:11 PM. It would be a horrible idea to eat at this point as I follow a certain diet and schedule to keep healthy. How I wish I could easily anything I want though and not get fat. Perhaps one day, Science will be so advanced that we can take in something that inhibits calories 100%! Now, that would be the best. It would also benefit little 'ol me, too. *sparkly eyes*

//jogs every day and is tired by 1 lap

For the moment - while we wait for that miracle pill hand in hand together - we can refocus our attention on something just as amazing!

My supplier and I managed to get an entire FREE! Star Night Taito Kuji set 100% brand new and complete! (I'll be doing a set review on Star Night soon. I promise!)

Oji-chan, thank you! I know you struggle with English, but I am truly grateful for all you do. Thank you for bearing with a antsy 22 year-old like me.

If you've been following me for awhile, you would know that every time I return to Akihabara, I try for the Star Night kuji. I started doing so at my last trip in February. I won Rin's figure for a lovely customer and was very happy that I got it for her! <3 In fact, during my last trip in May, I purchased the entire kuji (what was remaining of it at least).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Star Night series was the last kuji for Eternal Summer. What followed after were the HIGH SPEED! sets. It's also one of the more colourful sets that feature all the boys which surely pleased the fans. <3

Now that a new FREE! project has been announced, we can surely expect new kujis!

One of the smaller prizes include this lovely can mirrors which is something newly introduced to the kuji line-up!

The boxes are the same size as Flower Afternoon's cookie strap packaging, and they're probably the most colourful box in the entire history of FREE! Taito kujis.

All of them lined-up!

The planners of this set probably considered that this would be one of the last (at the moment) for FREE!'s Eternal Summer line-up so they included Momo and Nitori. The two are always a welcome addition in my book as I'm a huge Samezuka fan!

This may just be a random tidbit, but you'd see that for the Samezuka fan every character is facing to the left except for Rin, haha!

Team Samezuka!

Team Iwatobi!

The designs are rather similar with a toy clock (depending on the team), jammies, slippers and with their spirit totems inside a play box. How cute!

And a special Kisumi can mirror joins the team!

I hope you enjoyed this short post and get a can mirror for yourself. I have a Momo one inside my pouch, because #makeupissues.

Have a beautiful day!

Prince of Stride Namco Pop-Up Shop at Shibuya!

Hi, hi!

*yawns*

The weather in Manila is perfectly suited for taking a warm blanket, hiding inside it and taking a nap.  Was it yesterday? When there was reportedly a tornado (or buhawi) at the centre of Manila? Gnarly!  That's never happened before! I just poured hot water on my ramen, and there it was on the news! Personally, I'm not fond of the cold weather. I like the sunny days we have in Manila more than thundering skies. Like, you'd see me in the summer still sleeping under a toasty comforter.

In a few weeks, I'll be back in Tokyo, but I've yet to do write-ups of my trips since early February. Am I starting to become lazy or has life taken its beating? Both are true, in my case. To be quite honest, I'm constantly rethinking as to what I'll end up doing on this blog. At times, I'd rather just take photographs than type up what I have to say, but a lot of people tell me that they can understand / connect with what I say so I pull back and think, "Well, if it's what they want then what are a few sentences?"

On this post, I wanted to take you all to the pop-up shop of Prince of Stride in Shibuya!

Prince of Stride recently did a collaboration with Namja Town, hence, the cat chibis of the characters!

I wasn't expecting to see this pop-up shop though I've heard (or should I say read?) on several Japanese websites that there will be an opened PoS shop at the time I will be returning home. I didn't expect that it would be at the same place we were visiting at all, so I was happy and at the same time relieved that I could do some shopping for the series. Serendipity at its finest!

Pin sets!

The lady was so sweet, and she happily accommodated and allowed me to photograph the shop.

It was an early Wednesday when we visited, so there weren't so much people. I took advantage of it to take plenty of photos so I can share them with you. One day, when I'm older and have established my Heroine Complex empire, I will look back on these days fondly. In life, we all have to start somewhere, right? Whatever you're seeing here now is the start of HC's future empire. I want to protect her at all cost, and hopefully, someday... you'll bring your children into one of our shops. *winks*

We've been back for several days, but at Animate in Akihabara (which is the nearest Animate from our place), most of the PoS items were sold out. I'm glad I was able to get some of the Bocchi-kun straps which are absolutely adorable there though!

Kuji corner!

Now, I'd like to believe that I'm the budding Kuji Queen. (I constantly win A-prizes during my first tries and stock-in plenty of Kujis from different series in my shop!) But, but, but...! I bow down in defeat when it comes to the Lottery Wheel. OTL; I dare not try this, and hope... hope that I can purchase these at second-hand shops around Tokyo someday. I've won the worst prizes like stickers! It's too sad for me, haha! My confidence sinks whenever the lottery wheel comes up besides series that I love.

My heart yearns for that Riku and Fujiwara pillow. Someday, my love!

I love how they displayed their items! It gave me inspiration as to how I can display items on my shop, too. <3

I regret not purchasing the other characters especially Koga's!

Blind packs!

Pillows!

Clear file corner!

One of the things I find fascinating about this series is its merchandise. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed it, but... look at how the colours blend seamlessly together on their display as well as items. I do understand that not many people will understand where I'm coming from, but... I do own a shop as well and I like to make sure that everything works harmoniously together from my decor and items.

I love the boldness of their colours. It just makes me want to breathing...

... and that, I unfortunately, did.

Cha-ching!

I hope you enjoyed this post! I will be working on better content for everyone!
